| Notes: | Jan 19, 08 - Constans was the youngest son of Constantine. The will of the dying emperor was that the youngest heir to the throne would receive jurisdiction over the northern African cities and the crown jewel of all the provinces, Italy itself.
Bigger brother Constantine II thought this was not at all cool and that he deserved control over these regions in addition to Gaul, Spain, Britain and Germania. He was greedier than he was good on the battlefield because as soon as he took his solders over the borders he got spanked by the armies of Constans who then promptly became master of all the western half of the empire. Here is a coin showing Constans holding the world in his hands. It was made in Aquileia, near the city where he defeated Constantine II. | ||||
