Notes:	Dec 21, 07 - The history books, those textbooks meant for middle-school age kids anyway, mention how this famous emperor built a wall in England that is considered Western Europe's equivalent of China's own Great Wall (and they did pretty much serve the same purpose). They don't go into much more details however. Certainly nothing about his being very, very gay. You see, he had this boy on the side (being married to a blue blood named Sabina) and to him he was the world. One day he drowned (suicide or murder?) and Hadrian went into a deep depression. As the tragedy struck in Egypt he commanded that statues and temples in his honor be built and rallied his subjects to do all sorts of head-scratching stunts to make sure they all felt his personal pain. You won't read about any of that on your average 7th grade textbook ;-) This is a favorite coin of mine. I find it an extraordinarily nice portrait and a very well preserved coin overall.
