| Notes: | Aug 23, 05 - Accused of being a bitch by her husband Caracalla, he had her sent off to the executioner's the minute old Septimius died. Of course, that's Caracalla's version; a guy who has to rank among the top imperial jerks with no notable redeeming qualities of his own. So we should probably give her the benefit of the doubt and allow that she was probably mortified to death with worry when she found out she would be betrothed to the ill-tempered emperor.
Her coins while not being rare are not exactly plentiful either. Using Ebay's listings as a barometer, one can find on any given day 2,000-2,500 Roman coins up for auction out of which perhaps only 2 or 3 or none may be of Plautilla. And one in this shape makes for an even more challenging hunt. |
