| Notes: | Dec 29, 11 - Julia Maesa engineered an epic coup to depose the capable Macrinus & Son team from Rome's highest official post only to commit the fatal blunder of placing her grandson Elagabalus as her puppet. Instead, Elagabalus turned the Roman political scene into a freak show with his bizarre antics amusing some and turning off the rest. By the time she started moving her chess pieces again it was too little too late and both of them were killed by soldiers from the Praetorian Guard.
Out of the surviving Denarii of Augustae she's probably the most prominently featured of all and that means you can pick up one of her coins on the cheap. | ||||
