| Notes: | Apr 28, 08 - This coin would be Meshorer 1 with crescent and L in the right field on the reverse. Without the crescent and L it is Meshorer 1A. The condition of the coin prevents better identification.
Among the first Nabatean coins. After gaining Damascus, Aretas assumed the title Philhellenos to appease the Hellenistic population. He also adopted the Greek practice of striking coins. This coin is similar to Seleucid types that preceded it from the same mint. |
