| Notes: | Jan 19, 08 - A high-grade example of a latter-date Denarius. This pampered emperor was initially well liked by the Roman army, especially considering his predecessor cousin Elagabalus, but in the end as the Roman empire slid into growing crises these same soldiers felt they needed stronger leadership. They then went overboard by replacing him with the brutal tyrant Maximinus in a bloody coup. |
