ANDRONICUS II, PALAEOLOGUS - Reigned as Byzantine emperor 1282-1328 AD. He was the eldest surviving son of Michael VIII Palaeologus and Theodora Doukaina Vatatzina, grandniece of John III Doukas Vatatzes.
