| Notes: | Oct 1, 08 - Find YORYM-31CD26 from the Portable Antiquities Scheme. This is one of 9 coins from a small hoard found by Brian Hawe with a metal detector before November 2007 in Everingham Parrish, East Riding of Yorkshire County, UK.
The coin has only been cleaned enough to allow complete attribution. Further cleaning will significantly enhane its appearance. Although only part of the coin remains it is enough for identification as an issue of Victorinus. The attribution to RIC V.ii 118 is more of a guess. There is clearly a draped figure in the center fo the coin. Tis figure is most likely female. The most likely reverse legends for this tyoe of figure are PAX AVG and PIETAS AVG but I can't rule out FIDES . . . as an option. Looking at the three partial letters left on the reverse, my guess is that it is ia PAX AVG. |
