Sydenham says: This coinage was issued by L.Fabius Hispaniensis and C. Tarquitius, quaestors of C. Annius Luscus, between 81 and 80 B.C. The Obverse Legend shows that C. Annius was the son of T.Annius Rufus, consul 128 B.C., and grandson of T.Annius Luscus, consul of 153 B.C. He was sent by Sulla to Spain in 81 B.C., as proconsul, to oppose Sertorius. |
