This coin is unlisted in Moushmov, SNG Hungary, and SNG Germany. The R. 10 rarity cited by Varbanov and Jekov is perhaps overstated a bit. I am aware of at least 4 specimens, two of which have been up for sale in the past year. I would expect that a more accurate rarity lies somewhere in the lower R. 9 range.

Smaller denomination coins (dupondii and asses) were struck for the last times in very limited quantities in years 12 and 13. Decius, Etruscus, Hostilian, Gallus, and Volusian all have examples of these smaller coins (although Etruscus has no known asses and Hostilian has no known dupondii). Begining with this coin, these smaller coins take a serious dip in quality. Compare this coin to Decius' dupondii struck in the same year:

and

Something quite strange is that unlike Etruscus' and Decius' sestertii, there appears to be no mixing of thier dupondii's reverse dies. None of Decius' dies appear to have been used in the production of Etruscus' coins. That combined with the drop in quality between the two coins suggests to me that the Etruscus coinage was struck either later in the year or by a seperate group within the mint.

All in all, considering its scarcity, I'm very happy with the relative high grade of this coin.
