| Notes: | Jul 20, 10 - This is a beautiful bronze coin of the Emperor Nero; the coin's honey-colored patina makes it highly desirable! Because of the yellowish color, it is possible that there may be some orichalcum but I can't be sure. As is the story for many coins, the scan DOES NOT do the coin justice. On the obverse, the bust of Nero and most of the legend surrounding him are sharp. The crown, the individuals strands of hair on the Emperor's head, and the thick bulky neck characteristic of the Claudian family, are found in marvelous detail on this spectacular coin. On the back the famed doors of Janus are closed signaling that Rome was at peace during the reign of Nero. Like on the obverse, the legend is for the most part legible.
Coins of Nero are rare, especially one of this quality. I hope the new owner can appreciate this coin as I have. Please keep in mind that over the next month or so I will be selling more coins.
