| Notes: | Apr 8, 12 - We can't blame Florian for doing what comes natural to men of ambition. As his brother Tacitus - or maybe half-brother as history isn't clear on this point - who had been the duly elected emperor just a few months ago and was now lay dying of old age, Florian thought it quite alright to begin a new dynasty and not defer this right to the Senate or the Army (pfft, who do they think THEY are huh). And so he appeared before them wearing a purpley new outfit demanding obeisance.
For a while, oh maybe a couple months - a half year at the outset, it worked. Then Probus, a popular and capable general, was egged on by his comrades-in-arms to show this Florian guy who the real boss was. And Florian didn't stand a chance. A Probian wave swept through town and off with 'is head. This sorry looking piece is a fleeting memento from those short weeks so long ago during which an unlikely dynast tried to leave his footprint on the pages of history.
