Default Help with identity and worth of my coin.

I was told the coin I have might be Greek. Possibly not authentic.
I have had it for years and would like to sell it.
I have attached images of the front and back.
Any help or information would be welcome.
Thank you, Danielle

Hi,

You don't say what weight it is, so hard to say whether it's meant to be a shekel or half shekel (~14g and 7g).

If you look on Vcoins, you'll find similar examples - e.g.:

http://www.vcoins.com/edgarlowen/sto...p?idProduct=64

They're known as "Shekel of Tyre" (or half shekel) as they were originally minted in Tyre, though some were minted in Jerusalem.

I'd doubt the authenticity of yours as the obverse in particular looks cast rather than struck.

ATB,
Aidan.

Danielle,

I am sorry to say that I think Aidan is right. Your coin is almost definitely a modern reproduction. Here is another example of the same coin from FORUM's fake list:

Regards,

Matt
